This is a great shirt! A true classic. Comfortable at a wide range of temperatures whether out winter camping or just around the house! Thanks for a new favorite! You know the shirt that you just keep going back to time after time.

Tears very easy, first one hole then it was like little wild fires. My experience only, could be different for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MMickey Attractive comfortable shirt
Mariner Blue is an attractive plad. Nice alternative to a solid color chamios shirt. Nicely made. Only reservation is I would have perferred a slightly heavier chamois cloth.

Bought this for my husband and it is warm and comfortable. Washes well with little or no ironing. Looks good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LisaW33 Disappointed in quality!
Haven't purchased Bean's chamois shirts for several years. Recently bought my husband 5 of these. Beautiful right out of the package, but after a couple of washings they look like they are several years old. I wash on gentle cycle, cold water and very, very low heat dryer. In fact, my husband had on one of these shirts and a friend had on a chamois shirt (which was over 5 years old) from another company. My husband's shirt looked older than his friend's. I can't believe I spent all this money on these and they look absolutely worn out - no smooth chamois look, but fuzzy and rough looking. No more chamois shirts from Bean for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Dempse not what chamois used to be
This shirt is not what I am used to as a chamois shirt. It is really a heavy weight flannel! I wish all of your chamois cloth items were of the same weight, feel and quality. I also had the same experience with a charcoal gray chamois shirt. Just too fuzzy for my liking and therefore rarely worn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BackwoodsBozo Have to add my $0.02 on this product
Yes, there are already umpteen dozen favorable reviews of this shirt.
But I need to chime in to assure prospective buyers of a certain vintage that the current LL Bean offering is not one that's merely "inspired by" (translation: inferior to) the real deal that LL Bean started selling during FDR's first year in office. The shirt I received today still IS the real deal.
The collar, correctly, still has no stiffeners in the points. The only change I note is truly an improvement: the buttons are higher quality than I recall and the addition of two buttons at the cuff - versus single cuff buttons in the old days, allows me to adjust them perfectly without resorting to resewing them as I have to do on some shirts.
I am especially fond of what is the "original" chamois - i.e., tanned deerskin colored - fabric that LL Bean now calls "Heritage Chamois'. And Bean's soft-as-Bambi's-bottom 7.5-ounce fabric is not-too-thin/not-too-thick perfection.
Finally the "traditional" - i.e., not "tailored" - sizing is just perfect for me, and I am almost stunned by the high quality sewing and finishing effort that our friends in El Salvador put into making this for me.
Seeking the perfect flannel/chamois shirts the past few years lead me to spring for some MUCH higher priced - often north of $100 - examples from other companies. But the LL Bean Chamois, Wicked Good and Scotch Plaids are all comparable, if not superior, to even the vaunted European made shirts and Bean's hold up even better after multiple washings (hint: always air dry to maintain size and softness)

Rated 2 out of 5 by KVacek Please bring the real Chamois Cloth back
I've had many LL Bean Chamois Cloth shirts over the years, and still have some old ones. The new ones I recently bought (and returned) are thinner and less stiff than even my oldest, most-washed-out Chamois Cloth shirts. Chamois Cloth used to have far more body than it does currently. It was a thick, warm, somewhat stiff, and very sturdy material, and very windproof. The current version is only slightly thicker than a thin flannel shirt, has little body, the wind blows right through it, and I won't wear these.
Please bring the old Chamois Cloth back. It was wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarollinaGirl The best shirt ever
I bought the burgundy shirt for my husband for Christmas. He loved it! It has been through numberous washings and looks as good as when I bought it. My husband is pulling it off the hanger as fast as I'm putting it on the hanger. Every time he puts it on,he smiles and says, "This is the warmest shirt I have every had. I sure do like it...A Lot!" I decided to order the baltic blue one for him as a mid-winter surprise. He was really excited when he got it. Now he has TWO best shirts ever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Baluga32 GREAT shirt
Have had 2 for the past 5 years. Warm and durable. Contrary to popular belief, it does get cold in Florida. This shirt combined with even a light turtleneck under is very comfortable.
