My Bean's mock is all I expected and more. The fabric is soft, length of arms is perfect and the neck is not too tight. It washes like a dream and is well made.

My 4th LL Bean Turtleneck and appreciate the wide range of colors & collar choices. We have a real old fashioned winter here and have been layering these with sweaters. Haven't had them long enough to notice shrinking but did note others saying to order a size up to allow shrinkage & as I enjoy soft & "roomy comfortable" so far these have fit the bill.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MissTerri Nice fabric, but it shrinks!
I'm happy with the color and sizes. However, I noticed after a few washes the sleeves have started creeping up my arm. It's to the point that the sweater is borderline too short, and I have to wear a jacket to cover the short sleeves. I expected better!

Why sell a product that is going to shrink like this? I have some of these turtlenecks and wondered if maybe I washed them wrong... ? Now I see others with the same issue.

I purchased a L.L. Bean mock turtle neck and I love how the shape conforms to you. It is my first purchase of the Mock Turtle Neck and I love the fabric and I am going to purchase another one . It is the Moss Green. Excellent fit. The Medium fits me well.

I do love this shirt but when I received my size medium it was nice and loose fitting - perfect. After one washing it was 2 sizes too small - tight all over and sleeves shrunk. I returned and order a large and after washing it is fine. Nice soft fabric.

I ordered 5 of these in Nov...X-Large...I'm a big little girl. They were a perfect fit when they arrived but continue to shrink with each washing..no, I haven't gained any weight. They don't cover my belt line anymore and I have to wear something over them. I'm disappointed with the shrinkage, esp in the length.

This turtleneck shrinks. Don't let anyone tell you differently. I am 5 feet 10 inches tall and am not overweight. I have been buying L.L. Bean turtlenecks for years, decades. I have older ones that have been washed repeatedly but have not shrunk. I always have ordered size large. But when turtlenecks that I have bought in the last couple of years shrunk so I could no longer wear them, I sent three back and ordered extra large. I am now wearing one which has been washed three times and the sleeves are literally three inches above my wrist bone. Since I have ordered the largest size for women, I have nowhere else to go. As an experiment, I have ordered one in a men's large hoping it might be of a different fabric and won't shrink. If it, too, shrinks I will shop elsewhere for turtlenecks.

I love this mock turtle neck! The fabric is soft, and a very nice weight. I ordered Wisteria Blue which is a gorgeous color. The fit is perfect---not too big or small. I have turtle necks made by other manufacturers and none fit as comfortably, especially in the wrist area, as this one. In addition, the quality of the stitching is amazing.

I wanted to love these. I wear a small, but after reading the reviews about the shrinkage, I ordered a medium. And, not just one, but every single color they had. I wore and washed one, and it shrunk. I could live with the shrinkage everywhere except the sleeves which were about two inches above my wrist bone. So, I went and ordered the large -- again, in every color they had. But, once again, the sleeves shrunk to two inches above my wrist bone. These are great shirts if you don't mind your sleeves looking like you're wearing the equivalent of "floods." Pity. I wanted to love these, but L.L. Bean needs to make the sleeves at least two inches longer to allow for the shrinkage. For people that find them too long after washing, they could always roll up one turn or even hem them, but there is nothing one can do when they shrink up too short. I am saddened to have to return these and try elsewhere to find the elusive perfect mock neck.
