My 4th LL Bean Turtleneck and appreciate the wide range of colors & collar choices. We have a real old fashioned winter here and have been layering these with sweaters. Haven't had them long enough to notice shrinking but did note others saying to order a size up to allow shrinkage & as I enjoy soft & "roomy comfortable" so far these have fit the bill.

This mockneck is wonderful if you are short (I am 5'4") and have short arms to match. The hand of the fabric is delightful, the color choices superb. The neck and cuff finishes are clean and well-done. So it has only one flaw -- it shrinks. The sleeve on the medium regular measured 21 3/8" from shoulder seam to seam on the cuff before washing. After its first washing in cold and drying at regular dryer temperature, that same sleeve measured 20" exactly -- a shrinkage of about 6.5% on first washing. Just take that into account when purchasing.

LL Bean clothing is always very nice so for that reason I am keeping the shirt. This is the second one I've had to purchase because the first shrunk down so much from washing that I had to order a size larger. Now the larger one has shrunk like the last, so it doesn't fit perfectly, and feels odd. I wouldn't recommend this shirt for that reason. However, LL Bean customer service were very nice about doing an adjustment order because the sizing was wrong.

The mock turtleneck is a great shirt for crisp days. It is comfortable and retains it's shape after laundering. I wish it were available in a greater array of colors!

I love the color (bright plum), but the fabric is stiff with a chemical smell. I also ordered the black and it had the same problem. The sleeves were also slightly short. My arms are long, so this is not an unusual issue for me, but after reading other reviews that said these shirts shrink a lot, coupled with the chemical smell, I decided to return them.

The Good: This shirt is warm and soft.
The Bad: This shirt advertises that it will keep its shape wash with every wash but it shrinks quite a bit. It also pilled after the first washing and already looks "old".

This mock T is a great color and looks great when it comes out of the bag. However, I washed it once, and it immediately looked like I'd worn it and washed it for years. The color faded at the seams, and the whole thing went down at least a size. I washed it in warm as the label says, and dried it in a warm setting that does not harm the rest of my clothes, including a new T-neck purchased from an LL Bean competitor, which came out looking fine. So I am returning this. I imagine that if you wash it on cold and hang it to dry that maybe you can preserve the original good looks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by m1h2 Excellent but for colors
love what few mock turtlenecks have been offered in Women's sizes. However the mocks do not seem to be offered very often if at all and when they are the color selection is so limited compared with the entire range of colors. Just because some need a plus size to fit "the girls" does not mean we need super size sleeves etc and still like to have a colorful wardrobe Please consider offering more mock styles (all styles) in plus sizes and with more color selection thanks for allowing a review

These are true to size, soft, and comfy. They wash well. My only wish is for more colors in bright shades, not the heather and dark winter colors. I got the peony to go with my flannel shirt.

I am going to just keep complaining about those darn tags that cannot be removed without making a hole in the seam of the garments. Why do I have to sew up all these open seams just to may my clothing wearable?
