Rated 2 out of 5 by CapeSteve Not for winter
Material is surprisingly thin, making these glomitts unsuitable for cold weather. Further, the thumb access is just a slit with no storm flap. This arrangement makes it easy to get your thumb out, and equally ease for snow, water and cold air to get in.

The converta-mitts have helped greatly to relieve the discomfort
of my wife's icy-feeling fingers (that also turn blue) due to Reynaud's Syndrome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by FlyFisherxxxxx Good for Fishing, too
Needed something exactly like this for winter fly fishing. These worked just great. Stayed dry in 6 hour outing, magnets worked fine and did NOT attract the hooks, plenty warm and easy to switch between gloves and mitts. As to gauntlet length - worked fine as my windbreaker has sufficient sleeves to cover the gap. Thumb hole was fine - others noted it needed work - time will tell. An affordable and practical alternative to the $60 mitts sold for fishing. LL Bean needs to cross-list this under fishing, and offer an olive or dark tan version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WalkingUpIsHardToDo So far very nice...
I haven't had them for long and they are pricey, but they are way better than the pairs sold at the discount stores, both in fit, appearance and quality.
I find the Large to be a good fit. I generally dance between L & XL for gloves. XL in these were way too roomy.
Magnets hold the mits quite well.
Only complaint is that the thumb slits are a little loose allowing some cold air access when closed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by johnDC Love these Converta-mitts
These are the third pair of this style of "converta-mitts" I've owned, but only the first sold by LLBean. They fit perfectly, not too tight, but close enough for warmth, and the magnetic "snaps" that hold the mitten when not covering your fingers, and especially the fantastic thumb cover, are ideal. Flip the mitten over and it sticks; a basically effortless tug and the magnets disengage. My idea of excellent design. Though the wind doesn't blow through the material as promised, I can't rate them perfect because cold air does leak in if the wind is blowing hard, but I'm talking an ideal, not the reality of manufacture. Maybe if I paid 3 times as much I could get truly windproof, but for the price, these are truly excellent converta-mitts, or as my daughter likes to call them, "glittens".

Purchased these Converta-mitts to use while shooting trap and sporting clays. I was looking for something that could keep my hands warm, yet let me expose my forefinger for better feel and control of the shot gun trigger. I have been using them in temperatures in the 30-40 degree F range. In this temp range, they satisfy my need for warmth and finger freedom. The magnetic hold downs for the mitt portion work well - less bulky than velcro and easier to engage/disengage than velcro. The thumb flaps are less useful to me as there is air leakage through the slit depending on how long your thumb (i.e., your thumb can keep the slit slightly open). A velcro closure by the slit would have been useful in this regard. There are thin anti-slip rubberized strips cross-stitched to the palm of the glove and also the mitt. This makes griping/holding items (rifle/shotgun, in my case) easy.
Color is a chestnut brown - looks charcoal in the picture - I'm OK with the color as my jackets are mostly brown & green. The gloves have the look and feel of fleece for both the exterior & interior (probably because material is fleece!). There is a rubberized material bonded to the interior/exterior fleece panels to block wind - This works very effectively.
I would have liked the cuffs to be an inch or two longer so they could be tucked either into the sleeve of my jacket or do a better job of sitting over my jacket cuffs. As it's currently configured, for my hands, there is some air leakage and slight exposure around my wrists.
The sizing chart for the glove/mitts is spot on. I normally wear a large when it comes to gloves. The product's sizing chart recommended a medium and the fit is good (except for the length of my thumb, the glove's thumb could have been a 1/4" or so longer)
I have found a second use for these converta-mitts. My vehicle doesn't have a steering wheel heater. These glove/mitts keep your hands comfortable, while leaving your fingers free to touch/press buttons until the vehicle interior has warmed up.
