Rated 5 out of 5 by OHmother Looks sharp. How can the fish resist?
Agree with other reviewers that this runs large.....my husband wears either an XXL or XL, due to his shoulders, depending on the brand.
An XL is *plenty* big enough to even allow a base layer for cool dawn mornings on the lake.

Rated 3 out of 5 by northerneronthegrand Runs a Little Large
Recently purchased this shirt as well as the Shademaker Shirt, both in a size Large, for my husband ( 5' 11" ). As a couple of other reviewers have noted, this shirt runs somewhat large & was too big & baggy on him, whereas the Shademaker Shirt fit him perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leatherfoot great looking shirt
Bright shirt but my husband loves this shirt. It's great for hiking in hot weather because of all the vents and pockets. It washes well, dries quickly on low tumble and does not crease at all. I'm probably going to have to buy another one soon but in a different color.

Wonderful sun-protection shirt, perfect for a very hot, sunny day in SoCal. I sat on the flightline in Miramar, CA for 4 hours mid-day in early October. I did not get sunburned. I also kept dry and relatively cool, despite the 90+ degree weather. I love this shirt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MaryK7 Men's Tropicwear Shirt
I have bought several of these shirts in the short-sleeve style for my husband. He wears them nearly every day in the hot summer sun. Now that fall is approaching here in NW Florida, I am ordering the long-sleeved version in white, which should look terrific with jeans. My husband is tall, and we love that LL Bean offers tall sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2255 Still hotter than a t-shirt
I spend a lot of time gardening. I'm about 6' tall and usually a medium. I needed a large to give me enough room to work in the garden, but it would be too big to go out into town an look good. I'm sure a medium would look better on me.
Even though it is tropic wear, understand that is is going to be hotter than a t-shirt. I got white to stay a bit cooler, but still on a hot day, it is still a hot shirt to be in, but it does protect me from the sun way better than sun block.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RangerRick5 Great shirt but changed to an ugly green color
First, I want to say that I own several of these shirts and am very happy with them. My old green tropicwear shirt wore out so I ordered a new one but will be returning it because you changed the color. Your catalog and website show it as a light green color but when it arrived in the mail, it was a loud and ugly green color. PLEASE update your advertisements with the correct & updated color and go back to the original color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DCTCJT Nice, but...
It was a bit heavier than I expected. I have a another brand of fishing shirt that is definitely lighter and a bit cooler than the Tropicwear shirt. Because of that, this one is not my first choice on the hottest days on the water.
On the plus side, the Tropicwear shirt does have a higher UPF rating than my other shirts... probably due to the slightly thicker material. I also expect this will help the shirt last longer than the competition.
The fit is on the big side which I like in a fishing shirt for ease of movement, and it is very comfortable.
Quality of construction is excellent and exactly what I expect and pay for when I buy L.L. Bean products.
All in all, a good purchase, and I plan on getting another one in white. Maybe the white color will make it feel lighter and cooler. It certainly should be the best protection against the sun.
I wish the Bean rating system was a little more finite. The shirt deserves a 4.5 with the only small minus being the thickness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by flyboy61 LOVE da shirt!
I am not a fisherman, I use my shirt for photographing air shows, racing cars, and birding
.Comfortable! The color is great, it is cool in the sun. and provides sun protection. That's good for us who are plagued by sun-caused skin cancers! It washes up wonderfuly, I just hang it to dry, which it does quickly, with no ironing needed! YAY!.
My wife thinks it is very good-loooking, which is a boon, because she got it for me for Father's Day. She hates camo!
There is one minor issue...I am just in between regular/tall, so I got a tall. It is long! I must leave the bottom button undone, in order to easily acess the equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by gymlady Great color, fit and lightweight for summer sun
I purchased this shirt for my husband. He has very severe skin problems and this is perfect for covering up in the hot sun (live in Houston, TX). It washes well but does need to be ironed. Some other shirts similar to this do not need ironing (different brand) so I
would lean to purchasing those. This is a good quality shirt with a good fit.
