Rated 5 out of 5 by KingsJetBailey Best Coat EVER
I have had this Barn Coat for many years and have washed and repaired it many times, and it is still wearable! This year I am sending this coat as a gift to my brother who moved from Florida to the Arkansas Mtns. He will sure need it there. There is no better coat for working outdoors in all kinds of weather. The removable lining is just the right weight for outdoor activities. I can't say enough good things about this coat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Beanwearer62 Climate rating is way off
I've owned a couple of these jackets and the climate rating is way off. If you wear this jacket in temps under 25 degrees, you will freeze. The liner prim-aloft fails to overlap at the buttons and as a result cold air flows through. I can't imagine wearing this in 10 degree temps, regardless of my activity level. It's a great fall jacket, but if you need a winter jacket, look elsewhere.

Very good work jacket. Excellent, practical styling. Recommended. Improvements would be to add an inside pocket; and a small round plastic "backer" on the inside of the jacket, where each of the main front buttons are attached (sewn on). This would strengthen the button attachment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MrPersnickety Warmer Than I Thought
I must admit, this PrimaLoft lined coat is much warmer than I thought it would be. It is not bulky and has great freedom of movement. But, I believe the coat would benefit from a zipper under the button flap. This would seal out the cold while leaving the traditional buttoned barn coat look.
The rear hem of the liner needs to button or snap to the coat since it bunches and rides up when you put the coat on, The flannel facing of the liner is good looking but does not glide. I have a bad shoulder, and reaching up behind me to pull the liner down (each time I put it on) is painful. I find the coat fabric a bit too "soft" for my tastes in a chore coat. A heavier, harder finished fabric would improve the impression of overall quality.
Since composing this review, I have had a zipper added ($20) and a couple of buttons and loops added to the bottom of the lining ($5), and find the coat snug and comfortable.

The time has finally come to retire my husband's old LL Bean Field Coat. I'm so glad that it's still a staple of your line. I don't know what he would buy if it wasn't available. He wore it for everything when it was new. Now that it's old he only wears it for dirty tasks. It?s warm & durable. When another button came off the other day (along with some fabric) I knew it was time to retire the old coat. I'm sure he'll still wear it for another year or so for dirty jobs so his new coat stays nice for a while. Thank you LL Bean, this coat is a great, durable & warm coat.

Good quality, classic field coat. Very practical for almost three season use with button out lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Armyguy Warm with out being heavy.
I replaced an older jacket with this one, I was skeptical about it's warmth because it was substantially lighter than the one I replaced. Surprisingly and happily I am impressed in the warmth it provides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chefjms I love this coat
This is the third one of these that I've bought. I wear them year round and, as a result, I wear them out. I am so glad this this is a staple at LL Bean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BobVila Great Coat
Have had great customer service from LL Bean, fast shipping and a product that will wear for many years. Ordered a size down and still have great movement and room to layer.
Would recommend this coat to everyone.

Sorry L.L. , not happy with this coat ! one of the sleeves on the liner is longer than the other, causeing it to show when the cuff is rolled back. The buttons are very loose, I know, they have sewn two or three extra, to the inside of the coat, but would'nt it make more sence to attach the buttons properly the first time ? I have reenforced them myself. I think I can use some velcro to take care of the sleeve problem, but for the money, I would have to say, this coat is a loser.
