Rated 3 out of 5áby TomJohn52 Serious shrinkage issues
I loved putting this shirt on for the first time, comfortable and warm, and it fit perfectly. Unfortunately, it then needed to be washed. The second time I wore it, it felt a little snug and the sleeves a little shorter. Before long the sleeves felt like they were halfway up my arm. I bought a large, and since my arms are fairly short (30" in a dress shirt) long sleeves are usually an issue for me in a large size. After several washing the sleeves were much too short. I have since ordered an XL and hope this fits after several washings. Definitely order one size up from your normal size.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. He wore it a couple of times but reports that the sleeves are so tight that he can't wear it for long. I've laundered it to see if the fit changed and, sadly, it did not. I had hoped that it would be a useful winter item. I could not find the shipping tag so it hangs in his closet.

Rated 1 out of 5áby NoShirt Buy only for one-time wear
I bought one of these shirts and loved it. Then I washed it on cold/delicate with cool dryer and it shrunk multiple sizes. It was completely unwearable, I no longer had my receipt or return info (because I wore it and was happy with it prior to washing). Only then did I read all the other reviews saying the same thing about shrinking. Horrible product.

Great shirt wear them all the time, have three of them. Would rate them a 10. Comfortable, great quality. I would like to make a suggestion, put a hole in the cuff so when you use it as a base layer
you can put your thumb through pull your other layer over the top, that way it won't run up your arm.

My husband wears a large, but when I got an L of this shirt, it was ginormous. I returned it for an M. After washing once, this thing shrunk down a couple sizes and is WAY too tight. Junky fabric, will still try to return it.

I have had to return two of the Charcoal Heather/Deepest Red Striped Henleys, due to fabric defects. I washed each shirt (delicate/cold) and had the same result with both... The outer fabric on the sleeves seemed to disintegrate, leaving numerous small holes.
*Customer Service told me both times that this particular problem had not been reported by anyone else, but the product reviews show otherwise.

Best and warmest shirt in my closet. No problems at all with itching. I plan on buying at least 3 more of these shirts.
The two-Layer River Driver Shirt is by far my favorite shirt to wear alone or under one of my many L.L. Bean Flannel Shirts.

Good looking shirt however teen son found this shirts material at the collar and at the wrist to be very itchy. He took it off after just a short time. Husband decided he would try it as he liked the looks of it. He too said it was itchy and said to send it back.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Goodhue 2nd Review,In Response to Those Claiming Itchiness
I've been wearing these shirts for years and I wear them often because they are so comfortable and warm. I'm writing a 2nd review in response to the claims of "itchy" in several reviews. ~ When buying any wool articles you must decide beforehand if you have a reaction to wool. My wife, for example can not tolerate wool at all. I,on the otherhand, swear by wool as the best material to keep me warmest in cold weather. ~ These shirts contain only some wool and it makes them much warmer than the cotton shirts I own. ~Note:For a year or two Bean made a River-Driver shirt that was 100% cotton,I still have 2, but it wasn't nearly as warm.~ Another recommendation I'd make, since my previous review, is to go for the little bit extra and buy the Tall. I'm 6 ft. and 160 lbs. and now order the Tall so that when I tuck in the shirt,it stays tucked through all ranges of movement.I also like the longer sleeves because I can tuck them under my gloves and prevent that annoying feeling of that cold spot on my wrists during cold weather. In any event, the River-Driver shirts, both Henley and crew, are my warmest shirts for winter wear and fit easily under sweaters and fleece. ~ Highly recommended!
