Rated 5 out of 5 by SunbeltGirl My husband absolutely loves this shirt!
In fact, he likes it so much, when they went on sale he wanted another one.
He also suggested I get my dad and brother one which I did.
It's warm but not hot. The blend is soft and very comfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by zzharley There is shrinking and there is SHRINKING
I purchased two large Two-Layer River Driver's Shirt, a blue one and a white one. After reading the reviews I knew it would shrink.
I washed them both in cold water . Then I dried the white one in the gas dryer and flat dried the blue one. I wanted a shirt that was warm and felt good for just messing around outside all day. The white one shrunk where my 10 year old grandson could probably wear it. The blue one did not shrink, but it is so stiff it feels like allligator hide against your skin. The way I see it is thru trail and error I would have to keep buying shirts and dry them until I find the right shrinkage size. At forty dollars a shirt it would get a little expensive. I guess I have to chalk it up as a 80 dollar learning experience.

My River Driver shirt originally belonged to my grandpa. He passed 25 years ago, and I still have the shirt. I LOVE it. It is soft, breathable and warm. I wear it when it is cold and snowy as a base layer. It keeps me nice and toasty with out the bulk. Still in great shape with no fraying. Now my nephew has fallen in love with my "Grandpa Shirt", so I am ordering him one for Christmas. I know he will love it for years to come as well.

30 years ago your LLBean River Driver shirt could be washed in warm water & thrown in a warm dryer OVER & OVER again for years staying deliciously soft, snuggly warm & keeping it's shape. Same twenty years ago. Great quality. I'm wearing one now. Let me know when you go back to the original style so I can buy a couple more.

Makes damp, raw days wonder why you're so content. Loved the one I bought last year and got another. Great base layer, fits well, comfortable, and has worn well despite wearing it constantly through the season.

have purchased this shirt for my husband repeatedly over the years...excellent for winter but this time the same size/style fits TIGHT and the cuffs are sewed wrong so they do not lay flat....probably will not get him to wear it again
never had this problem...makes me hesitate to take advantage of a sale price on any item

This shirt was great....then I washed it. The collar became so stretched out, it was so wavy and wrinkled. The sleeves and the back of the shirt shrunk so bad it was unwearable. I really like the style of the shirt, it's just a shame it wasn't better quality.

The shirt shrank a least a full size in 1 cold water wash.

I was at our hunting camp this weekend and looking at some old photos. There was one of me with a cast on my ankle from 1992. I was wearing my red 2 layer river driver shirt and I still have it. The thing is not ragged any place although kind of faded. I save it for the coldest days of which we seem to have many in northern Vermont. This shirt is at least 22 years old.

My husband was complaining about not have any warm shirts...I noticed that this shirt was a double layer...hmm...must be warm.
My husband is 6'5...a tall man ...so ordered this shirt along with other warm shirts...did not notice the washing instructions...washed on warm and put in the dryer...it shrank so much that I hide the shirt...next time I will read the reviews
