Rated 5 out of 5 by 1927892 Buying the same boots for 15 years
I've been wearing these boots for 15 years, replacing them every 1-2 years depending on how hard I use them. I could probably get more use out of them but I wear them year round, nearly every day. They are extremely comfortable. I tend to replace them because the bottom of the boot begins to separate from the sole which allows some water to get in. Although the boots are still functional, I need a completely waterproof boot and probably replace them sooner than most people would. I did have my most recent pair break apart completely at the heel, but it was after 18 months of very hard use. I use them for hiking year round, including in heavy snow. I also work in them year round cutting wood, working in mud, snow, ice, etc, occasionally submerging them accidentally. I also suspect I would get more use out of them if I was more careful about allowing dirt and sand to get in them. It seems as though they have replaced the insole of the boot with a thinner, lower quality one on my most recent pair (spring of 2016). I'm not happy with that since it fell apart after about 3 weeks of use. Hopefully they will realize the mistake and go back to the better quality one. Because of that, I would recomend planning to put a higher quality insole in the boot as soon as you get them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by lexington40502 insoles very inferior
I have purchased 10 or 12 pairs of these over the years. Great fit and waterproof qualities; but the last pair I bought (two weeks ago), have an inferior insole. After two weeks they are coming apart. I will need to buy "after market" insoles soon.

I bought these new for a trip to Philmont with the Scouts last summer. Comfortable out of the box and got more so with more miles under load. They kept feet dry and blister free through 90 miles of backcountry rocks and mud. Highly recommend them. Gaiters were a priceless accessory for keeping them clean and dry inside despite the trail conditions.

These boots are very comfortable, waterproof, and long lasting. I wear them on average 5 days a week for work and buy usually one pair every year. I have recently noticed I am having to change shoe laces about once a month because the d rings cut the laces. I would recommend the boot

Perfect fit right out of the box, lots of support, wear like iron. I've put I don't know how many miles hiking in Glacier NP over the past 5 years and they're still going strong. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KarlK These boots continue to amaze me
I took these fabric/ leather boots out this morning for my weekly hike and continue to be very happy that I bought them last year. This is my second review, as I wrote the first shortly after the purchase. They are holding up fine in all sorts of weather in all four seasons. The best compliment I can say is that I do not notice them while hiking. I have a B width foot and an even narrower heel with a high, stiff arch. The 10-B pair I bought was perfect. I take them out on maintenance hikes along the Appalachian Trail as a volunteer maintainer in southwest Virginia, too. At my current (Medicare) age, this pair will likely last me into my nursing home hikes. Check these out if you are a serious hiker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Coognut Over 10 years of waterproof, durable, comfort
I recieved these boots as an "off to college" gift in 2003. Since then they have seen countless hiking treks, camping trips and roadtrips. They've done construction, demolition, painting, landscaping and survived 10 northern Vermont winters and mud seasons. They have been my daily work boot for the last 3 years. During all those years these boots always kept my feet dry and comfortable. At the end of last winter, the sole finally became separated from the rest of the boot even after 2 months of weekly shoe-gooing. I mailed them back to L.L. Bean and 2 weeks later they mailed me a credit for $229. After all that use and abuse. So tonight I bought myself another pair of the same Cresta Hikers that I wore til their end. I highly recommend this product and buying gear from LL Bean because they really do stand by their guarantee.

Great boots, but if you hike in snow and ice the finish gets a bit ragged. Buy Bean's boot cream to keep them looking good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MassShopper Wish I'd bought these years ago
Without a doubt, these are the most comfortable hiking boots I have owned since I started wearing hiking boots 40 years ago. I wish I had just paid the money for what I wanted years ago instead of always trying to find a bargain. These are worth the money, in my view. I broke them in walking my dog and after a few walks they fit just right. The option for a size 9 1/2 Narrow means I don't have to bulk up with socks to make boots fit my skinny feet. They are not as light as some boots I've tried that have textile uppers, but they are highly supportive and conform to feet as only leather does. A rubber toe cap would have been a good idea. Treating the leather with mink oil or Bean's Boot Guard has helped prevent small scuffs and cover bigger ones, but some factory-installed rubber on the toe would be a worthwhile upgrade (if LLBean product planners are paying attention). I've had boots before by Merrill, Vasque and LLBean, and none feel as good on my feet as these Crestas. Great boots.
