I purchased a pair of these Mocs a few years back, they developed an annoying squeak in the sole, and they were replaced under the LLBean guarantee last Oct 2014. Now the new replacements are starting to squeak !! less than a year later. This is not a squeak from where the body meets the sole, but actually in the sole. Reading the Reviews, it seems like this is a common occurrence with these Mocs. Has any one found a solution to this?

Rated 1 out of 5 by Evelyn2 A lack of quality
I have worn s a number of pairs of these shoes over the years. However, the quality has been decreasing for the past 15 years. They don't last as long. They squeak. They don't fit as well. The shoe laces crack and the white inner fiber pokes out. These are quite inferior to the old mocs. Wonder who they have making them.

....and that's the problem. I owned a few pairs of these 30+ years ago and thought that they would fit the bill today. I was so looking forward to trying them out again. I initially ordered a size 10 and they were way too big. Returned them for a 9.5 and gave them a test drive. I can't over emphasize how disappointed I am in these shoes. They leather is not quite like any other I have seen ? thin, almost a vinyl feel. Souls seem thinner than I remember, but the addition of a padded insole is a welcomed change. The worst part about these shoes are the squeaking when you walk. It?s not just a small, single squeak when you step. Both shoes squeak like the sound of a vinyl couch when you sit and move around. They are too embarrassing to wear. I sadly will be returning these for, I assume, another $6 charge. Lesson sadly learned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PoorlyMade Buy another pair of mocs
The other review are spot on. I bought these because I thought the leather/laces combo was really good looking. The leather feels very much like plastic, which lead to the stitching along the toes to pop and come undone less than 1 month after purchase.
I swear by LL Bean shoes. Just not with this kind of leather.

I hesitated to buy these for my nine-year-old son (he's got big feet) because of the cost, but he was wearing out three or four pairs of school shoes every year, and L.L. Bean has such a good return policy, I decided to try them. They are fantastic. They've taken a beating from mud, snow, ice, salt, and the playground and held up beautifully. This is the first pair of shoes in ages that my son will be able to outgrow before they fall apart. I would absolutely buy them again.

I bought these on a whim online and was really excited because I had several pair as a teenager. I was looking for a casual shoe to wear with shorts other than slip on loafers or Keens. They look the same but after wearing them for a month to break them in I've noticed a few distinctions from what I remember these shoes to be.
They were always good basic shoes but the leather on them seems much stiffer and thinner. The sole also feel thinner and cheaper. I think the cusioned insole is probably new (not sure if I like it or not but we'll see, not great with no socks#. Lastly and most importantly, THEY SQUEEK LIKE CRAZY! I've tried everything to get them to stop #lanolin, mink and snow seal shoe polishes - even a banana peel for the oil.) Nothing. My office building has a marble floored lobby and the squeek echoes of the walls.
I would suggest to L.L. Bean that they go back to more sturdy, quality construction. I didn't pay attention to where these were made but it feels like the lowest bidder supplier won out and not to the benefit of the consumer at $79 a pair. A fair price for these in my mind, at the current level of quality would be $29-$39.
They're probably going back to "Bean".

Rated 3 out of 5 by Seve2125 Classic style, but lost quality.
I'm not sure that these are made with the same quality of past LLB Blucher Mocs, or other Blucher Mocs on the market, but they look fine and are good beat around shoe. The leather looks pretty cheap, and the shoes have been squeaking a lot the last few weeks of wear. So, I think these are fine for the price, but they are not quite the icon of quality and style they once were.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MMmmbeer Great looks and better quality construction
After buying one pair of these mocs, I knew I had to have the other color choice as well. I'm hard to fit but the wide (EE) is available for these shoes.and fits well. They mold to the foot after a brief break-in and then you'll likely be wearing them just about every day.Their quality construction puts them on a higher shelf compared to other similar brands. ..

Rated 1 out of 5 by RyanS500 Quality is not there
I purchased a pair in Saddle color because I love the classic style they represent. Unfortunately the quality is not what one would expect. The leather immediately felt cheap, dry, and unnatural. This type of leather looks strange and unappealing out of the box, and gets even worse with age. The upper on the right shoe was particularly bad, feeling paper-thin and creasing in a strange way. The laces were also awkwardly long, leaving a huge knot with several inches of excess lace left over. I have several pairs of Camp Mocs which are very nice quality, but these Blucher Mocs are basically unwearable. I wish I had thought to just return them at the store, but I ended up throwing them in the trash in disgust. Oh well... lesson learned. I would like to try the Signature version, which looks a little nicer, but it isn't available in wide width.

Rated 2 out of 5 Unimpressed
I'm very unimpressed with the quality of this shoe compared to other LL Bean products. Out of the box it was clear the the leather was of poor quality... stiff and dry.
A month into everyday wear and the shoes are still stiff.. poor quality.. and perhaps worst of all.. squeaky.
I hope LL Bean works on the quality of this shoe, because I really do love the look
