Rated 5 out of 5 by OctoberAmyCO Fantastic rain coat, perfect in size and function
This raincoat is perfect for me. I'm 5'8", 140 lbs, with long arms. I got the Medium in red and it's a perfect fit. The sleeves are long enough and have Velcro adjustments to make them fit tighter or looser. The hood is excellent, it has drawstring adjustment squeeze buttons on the front to tighten around my face; but also in the back to pull it backwards so it doesn't block my vision. And it has a visor. The pockets zip securely. I haven't worn it in the rain but it appears to be quite waterproof. It also has a feminine shape which allows room for lightweight summer or fall clothing. You would not wear a think rain coat in the winter with heavy sweaters anyway. Love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by hikerfrau Poor hood toggle placement
I adore this jacket. So why deduct three stars? The collar assembly is unusually bulky and digs into my neck when the collar is zipped higher than my collar bone.
The front of the neck is reinforced with a stiff interfacing, there are two toggles each fixed on either side of the zipper, each toggle is inside a reinforced flap and has two grommets behind it, and the extra hood cord is fixed behind that. With a fitted collar there's nowhere for all that to go except into my neck.
Even if I removed the toggles and pulled the cords to the outside of the jacket, there'd still be too much bulk.
If the neck doesn't bother you, it's a great 3-season jacket for running errands, for walks or day hikes, and even mild weather nordic skiing.
The stuff I think is fantastic:
- The two-tone grey coloring is sharp.
- The fit in my usual size (XL Petite) is great for me. There's enough room for my shoulders, room for my apple-shaped tummy, and just enough room for a light fleece.
- The hood is roomy.
- There's a drawcord in the hem, which is a little lower in the back for butt coverage.
- The chest pocket is on the outside and has a zipper. No need to unzip in the rain to access that pocket!
- The wrist opening can be cinched shut.
- It packs up small.

It is SO difficult to find high quality outdoor clothes in Petite sizes. LL Bean is really one of the few companies that has a good selection of petite sized outerwear for active women.
I returned the Marmot Precip and purchased this LL Bean Cloudburst instead. I really loved the Marmot, but it just didn't fit correctly because of my height & proportions. I'm 5'0", 160 lbs, and usually wear a 12P. The Size Medium of this jacket fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Okanagan Works well in the tropics
I needed a light weight wicking rain jacket that would keep me dry for trips to the rainy tropics. I have a Gore-Tex jacket but it is too heavy for high temps and we pack very light on trips. After looking at many options locally, most quite pricey, and then in informative discussion with L.L. Bean regarding my need, I took a chance and purchased this item. The initial test was in the rains of a Pacific northwest winter. It worked well with a fleece for warmth. Then came the big test of tropical downpours in the jungles of Central America. It was exactly what I needed. We walk/hike everywhere and tropical rainstorms don't stop us with this jacket. You have to be realistic about how much any jacket can wick. Sweating in 40C will ensure you are wet to a certain degree. But I wear a L.L. Bean tropic wear shirt which wicks brilliantly along with this jacket and I was quite dry or dried out very quickly after a storm. The pit zips really help.
As for size, I'm 120 lbs., 5.2 and a petite small, my usual size, is the right size, allowing for a light fleece if needed. Lots of room in the jacket pockets for a small travel purse and other stuff. The hood covers well and can be adjusted but it could be improved which is, to me, a minor point. The jacket looks nice on. I usually buy darker colors (got dogs) but I was pleased with the light jacket as it stood out in the dark, a safety feature where street lighting is poor. And now my husband has this same jacket, in blue, his color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mboro Cloudburst Rain Jacket
I tried to love it, I really did. It has lots of neat features and when I wore it in the rain the huge hood kept my head very dry.
As others said, it does not breath and it is hot. Mostly it was the price, I could not justify the price for what essentially seems like a really nice rain poncho. I have a plastic one I keep in my glove box and it cost $1

Rated 3 out of 5 by LLBeanGoodCustomer definitely not worth the money
The XS Petite is gigantic and shapeless -- there is no way to cinch in the waist and I could fit at least another person besides myself inside it. The coat has no lining and feels unpleasantly plasticky on the skin. The hood will not lie flat and sticks out at an awkward angle. I could see paying maybe half the price for the jacket that is being charged for it.

I was hoping this would be the rain jacket I had been looking for. Sadly, it is not. The positives are its lightweight nature and roominess if you like to layer. It seems to run true to size. It's negatives are a zipper that seems balky. You will definitely need to use the pit zips as you are going to sweat big time in this. My biggest complaint, however, is it's cost. This is not a $129 jacket. Sorry L.L. Bean but this jacket is coming back to you.

The cloudburst rain jacket is very nice except for one big flaw. The zipper is so hard to get closed that you are wet before you can get it done! Defeats the purpose. I ordered the trail model jacket(with velcro as a back-up) and will be returning the cloudburst.

Very well constructed. I have a Bean gore tex parka that has kept me dry all over the world. I needed a very lightweight rain jacket for trip to Africa where luggage weight is severely restricted to a medium sized duffel that company provides. This jacket works well on its own or for more warmth paired with a Bean fitness fleece zip up jacket. It kept me dry in light rain, but I have not worn it in heavy rain yet. I do not find it noisy after wearing a couple times. It is smooth against skin over tank top. Outside pocket easy access. I will be using regularly as jacket in Spring and Fall and for overseas travel. Packs very small. I am 5'4" 140# and normally wear Bean medium petite. I got the jacket in Large Petite so I could comfortably layer under it.....size was just right for this. I gave a 4* rating because it needs to have a 2 way zipper to give easy access to a money belt or in the bathroom.

I chose this jacket hoping it would be light and I could wear it during the hot summer rains in Tennessee without feeling like I was sweltering. This jacket is great! Very breathable, which exactly what I was looking for.
