Rated 3 out of 5 by Jackadoodie Weak leather
The leather straps to attach the fronts are VERY thin and weak, however the back is more durable in thickness. Light cotton pants good, heavy wool pants not for long.

They work well do the job by holding your pants up

Rated 3 out of 5 front tabs too weak
I love the suspenders. I bought them specifically for a Colorado Mountain Elk hunt. The rear tabs are relatively thick leather yet still supple enough to "button" with cold hands or gloves on. The front tabs however are useless. They are much too thin and simply not up to the task of mountain climbing. I had to make new tabs from paracord (the 21st century duct tape). If the front tabs were made of strong supple leather I would give 4+ stars but not as is. I would recommend with the proviso that you will have to replace the front tabs if you plan on actually using them to hold up your pants in the mountains carrying a heavy pack, rifle etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by GrandmotherAmie Stiff suspenders
We had a hard time finding clip-on suspenders as my husband felt it would be too difficult to sew all those buttons on his trousers. We finally found clip-ons at LL Bean, and the red color is lovely but the material the suspenders are made of is quite stiff, and doesn't sit comfortably on the shoulders. Perhaps we have to bite the bullet and upgrade to the button-ons.

Truly like these suspenders. They are the most durable I've been able to find. The metal clips stay put very well on jeans while doing yarwork, etc. Also use them for hunting gear. Wish there were a few more color options.

These suspenders are as functional as they are practical. Strong clasps that can handle any load, and ease of function make these an everyday accessory. Ample stretch and quality materials.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rockhopper8 Arrived in pieces
The suspenders work once all parts are assembled. They arrived with one of the clips in 3 pieces due to one part being bent. The clip had to be repaired by putting the parts together and bending the one part to keep the clip together. This is not what I expected from LL Bean and I did call. I could have sent them back for a replacement but just made do with the repaired clip. They are very stiff and I adjust them very tightly to keep them on my shoulders. The repaired clip seems to be holding up.

I love these suspenders. But!
What I am concerned about is the leather used for the front leather parts. It seems to be getting thinner and thinner. This has been the failure point of previous pairs I have owned. I'm afraid they won't last as long as in the past.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ManfromManotick Leather button holders too flimsy and thin
This is my first disappointing purchase from Bean. I bought two pair of the leather ended suspenders and while the back button tabs are robust and strong, those for the front buttons are flimsy, the leather thin and weak, they're starting to stretch after only a few weeks of moderate use, and will (I'm sure) soon break. If the front button holders were as robust as those in the rear this would be a great product but, as they are now, I'll not buy any more of these from Bean. They just don't belong in the Bean line of high quality merchandise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dano58 just what I needed
I wanted a pair of suspenders for my hunting pants. These are perfect. Most the suspenders I looked at were either too stretchy or the clips were too weak. These have just enough stretch to them to make them move with you so your not choked and the clips are heavy duty which works well on wool hunting pants.
