Rated 3 out of 5 by Catechumen Decent Value
I first saw these shoes, in person, being sported by my grand uncle circa. summer of 1982. This style has become my favorite casual summer shoe, as well. Though, I do have some ambivalence about the current Bean model. Those who say these Camp Mocs are the same as those offered 20 to 30 years ago are just flat out wrong. The leather currently used is clearly inferior; much stiffer and easier to abrade - far less supple. There are better quality Camp Mocs out there; Camp Mocs that look and feel like the kind Bean used to sell - the issue is that they are about three times the cost of Bean's (those American workers are expensive). I have some of these other makes, but I also have the new Bean version as "beaters," to be worn when I don't care if they get soaking wet or scraped up. So, for me, these shoes are a value proposition. They're not the nicest, but for the money, they are adequate and comfortable.
I normally wear a 9.5 and find that a 9.5 fits a bit large so that the shoe sometimes slips off my heel (making them sometimes slap the bottom of my heel like flip flops), but I kinda' like them slightly large as my feet don't get too hot and air circulates. I don't wear these with socks and I immediately tossed the removable insoles and wear them without. From my perspective, with a size 9.5 foot, a size 9 is probably going to be the best and most secure fit.

There are 4 pairs, in varying degrees of wear, in my closet and another 3-4 pairs of boat shoes. I live next to a lake and this moc is about the only casual shoe I wear. They fit great, wear well, easy off and on to empty out water or sand, and the soles are siped (so no boating complaints). The number I currently have do not include the ones so worn they were tossed.
...AND they are from L.L.Bean

Rated 2 out of 5 by vwguy Soles crack too easliy & leather is really stiff
I've been wearing these shoes for over 25 years and as w/ pretty much everything else, they don't make them like they did in the past. I had a pair that I wore for maybe 6 months and the soles cracked thru where they're siped on the bottom, whoever makes them must have cut them too deep. I sent them back for an exchange and to Bean's credit they sent a new pair no questions asked. This pair had leather that was significantly stiffer than the previous shoes, but I wasn't going to complain. Now after 3-4 months the soles on these have cracked again. I'm not going thru the hassle of sending them back, I'll just glue the soles and buy somewhere else next.
You'd think a Signature version w/ better leather and the old wedge sole would be a no brainer, c/mon Bean, give us what we want!

These mocs fit great and feel great. My dad starting buying these for me as a kid, so it feels good to get back in them.

I take a size 11.5 shoe. The 11.5 in the camp moc fell off my feet. After 2 returns, I have a 10.5 and am still not sure that I have the right size. The card in the box titled "hand sewn" says to expect a snug fit which will relax as the shoes are broken in. I want that, but haven't found it yet as the shoes seem to run larger than what expect. Great shoe, but sizing is problematic.

I appreciate the thicker and darker colored sole; for it's more sporty and rugged than other moccasins, which generally have thin white soles that are dressy.

This is my second pair of camp mocs. The first pair held up through 3 years of heavy use. Initially a bit stiff but super comfortable after a few wearings. Really nice mocs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by HoosrHeel Well-made moccasins; just what I needed
I wanted a pair of moccasins that had a firm sole and that I could slip on and off. To complicate matters, I have wide feed, and I wear orthotics. It's hard to find moccasins like these. I've checked numerous stores in person and searched online extensively.
These moccasins are working very well. They look great, the sole is firm and protects my feet. They've loosened up nicely and conformed to fit my feet.
My only complaint: I wished they offered EEE, not just EE. That would be much better for my feet.

You can't beat the price of these things--a mere $70 to look like a Greenwich scion or a prep school lad, well armed with his trust fund--and frankly, I after taking my first look at them, I couldn't reconcile the cost and the apparent quality of the product I had received (these aren't Church's).
I called customer service and asked if they were, in fact, real leather (they are).
Comfortable out of the box, once I found the right size--9 1/2 for my typical size 10 feet.
A small price to pay for this lowly St. Paul counselor to feel like an east coast blue blood.
