This wonderful day of cycling will take you and your family to two historic lighthouses on the rocky coast of Southern Maine. The pace will be leisurely, with plenty of time to take in the scenic views and learn about the rich heritage of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth. An ocean-side lunch featuring a Maine lobster roll is sure to provide the energy you need to tour this special piece of New England coastline.
Itinerary
Meet your guides at the starting point in South Portland and receive a short primer in safety practices and the gear you'll be using. Then you're off on a shuttle-supported scenic ride along the breathtaking rocky coast of Southern Maine. After a seaside lunch featuring a hearty lobster roll, your afternoon route will take you to Portland Head Light at Fort Williams and Spring Point Light. You'll get to explore one of these historic lighthouses on a docent-led tour before returning to the starting point in the late afternoon.You will ride up to 23 miles for the day.
