Course Description

This island bike tour allows you the unique opportunity to cycle from one island to the next with a short ferry ride in between. You'll start with a bike through a rural landscape with rolling terrain at a leisurely pace, eventually arriving at the Cousins Island bridge. You'll cross over the bridge, enjoying spectacular views of the bay and surrounding islands. You'll bike through this wooded island to the ferry port where you'll take a short boat ride to Chebeague Island.

Chebeague Island has a rich history, its name derived from the Native American word meaning "Island of many springs". Settlers cleared the land in the 1700s, and it was home to "stone sloops" that carried quarried granite up and down the Eastern Seaboard. In the 19th and 20th Centuries, rustic cottages and summer vacation homes dotted its shores, some of which are still standing today.

After you debark, you'll ride up Stone Wharf Road past Great Chebeague Golf Club, overlooked by the stately Chebeague Island Inn. You'll enjoy an ocean-side lunch and have plenty of time to explore the roads and byways of this special piece of New England coastline.

All necessary biking equipment is provided.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.

†Please call ahead if you plan to use your own equipment as it must pass inspection by L.L.Bean staff before use. If it's deemed unsuitable, we will provide you with the necessary equipment.
