Our advanced kayaking skills course will give you the confidence to paddle in any conditions. Registered Maine Guides will teach you to navigate open water, plus advanced paddling and rescue techniques.

  • Prerequisite:  Introduction to Sea Kayaking & Intermediate Sea Kayaking

Course Description

Enjoy a full day of fun and education that's sure to help you go further and explore more on future kayaking adventures. Our Registered Maine Guides and ACA Certified Instructors will teach you the paddling and navigation skills you'll need for exploring open water in a kayak, including how to use a GPS, compass and nautical charts. They'll share tips about route planning and organizing a group outing, and offer you expert advice on how to keep your whole group safe and comfortable. You'll practice advanced rescue and towing techniques and learn how to work with changing water and weather conditions while paddling on Maine's scenic Casco Bay.

All necessary paddling equipment is provided.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.
