Our four-hour intermediate kayaking course is a great place to learn from expert instructors the advanced strokes and safety techniques you need to paddle with confidence.

  • Prerequisite:  Participants should be frequent paddlers or have taken our Introduction to Recreational Kayaking Course

Course Description

Improve your paddling efficiency, ability and confidence in this four-hour course. The perfect follow-up to our Introduction to Recreational Kayaking Course, this fun half-day of instruction will teach you the skills to be more proficient on the water, allowing you to paddle farther and get more enjoyment on kayaking trips. Our expert instructors will teach you balance, boat lean and the basic body mechanics of advanced paddling strokes. You'll also receive instruction on water skills and safety, including how to successfully perform wet exits, self and assisted rescues, T-rescues and scoop rescues.

All necessary paddling equipment is provided.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.
