Course Description

Our Paddling Adventure Week is a great way for you to see and explore the hidden islands, coves and inlets of Maine's coast. You'll meet new friends and enjoy a fun week of adventures you're sure to remember.

You'll spend your first three days exploring the area around our Paddling Center on the shores of Casco Bay. You'll learn paddling basics from our friendly instructors, who are experts in their field. They've explored some of the most remote areas in Maine and around the world, and are always up for an adventure. You'll learn the best paddling techniques for stand-up paddleboarding and sea kayaking. You'll also practice rescue techniques and safety skills.

And learning paddling and safety techniques aren't the only things you'll need for safe adventures on the water. We'll also teach you how to read charts, navigate by compass and prepare for an expedition. You'll learn the best ways to pack your boat and what you'll need to enjoy every trip to the fullest.

On day four, you'll set out with your small group and journey to a nearby island. You'll take turns leading your the adventure, plus try out your navigation and problem solving skills. You'll set up camp and depending on the time and weather, you'll explore the surrounding islands. Your instructor will be there to help you if you have any questions and will also give you a unique view of the area's history and wildlife. You'll return to cook dinner, hangout with your group and enjoy the oceanside view.

The next morning the group will cook breakfast and break down camp. There will be lots to explore and see on the way back to the Paddling Center, including eagles, osprey, seals and maybe even a pod of porpoise. You'll gain the skills and confidence to travel safely along the seacoast from this experience, plus new friends and lifelong memories of your adventures in Maine.

All necessary outdoor equipment is provided.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.
