Bryant Pond 4-H Camp & Learning Center
In April of 2008, the Maine Conservation School merged with the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension to become the Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center.

The Bryant Pond 4-H Camp & Learning Center provides affordable, experiential education in conservation and the development of outdoor skills, for people of all ages and backgrounds, in a natural setting. This mission supports the broader mission of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program, "to help Maine people improve their lives through education that uses research-based knowledge focused on issues, needs and aspirations."

Through financial support and donations of products, L.L.Bean has enhanced the school's opportunity to offer traditional outdoor experiences to children and adults throughout Maine and beyond.

Rippleffect
L.L.Bean is proud to support Rippleffect, a youth and community development organization operating outdoor adventure programming on Cow Island in Portland Maine's Casco Bay. The organization offers team-building activities, kayak adventures, leadership development, and environmental curriculum to both youth and adults.

L.L.Bean's support of the Youth Leadership Summit and the Youth Leadership Expedition underscores our shared interest in engaging young people in the outdoors through instruction, recreational experience and community service. The Summit brings youth together with Cow Island as the base for experiential learning through kayaking, outdoor education and self-exploration. Having completed the Summit, participants are eligible for the Expedition, a week- long journey that will provide students with an opportunity to experience other parts of Maine's great outdoors and to connect with their community through service projects.

The Maine TREE Foundation
The Maine TREE Foundation (MTF) educates and advocates for the sustainable ecological, economic and social health of Maine's forests and the people whose livelihood depends on the forest products industry. The vision of the Maine TREE Foundation is to have the public view the Maine forest community with understanding, pride and respect for its healthy forest ecosystems, forest professionals, scientific forest management and sound public policies. MTF accomplishes this goal by developing and sponsoring education programs for schools, the government, the media and the general public. Partnerships within the forest community and programs that support forest owners, workers and users also aid in the effort.

L.L.Bean has funded the MTF with general support as well as specific support for Project Learning Tree, an award-winning environmental education program for grades K-12.

Tin Mountain Conservation Center
Since 1979, Tin Mountain Conservation Center (TMCC) has offered hands-on programs to promote an appreciation of the environment at schools, summer camps, and within communities throughout northern New Hampshire and western Maine.

Tin Mountain Conservation Center provides environmental learning programs that are tailored to the individual curricula of participating schools. This sustained weekly contact with school children over the entire academic year is a unique feature of Tin Mountain's approach to environmental education.

Every summer, TMCC operates camps for ages 4 to 16 in Maine and New Hampshire. Nearly 300 local children and families benefit each year from summer programs.

TMCC is located in a state-of-the-art solar, photovoltaic, handcrafted Nature Learning Center surrounded by miles of self-guided tours on 140 acres of land, which is home to beaver, bear and other wonderful fauna and floral.

For adults and families, L.L.Bean contributes to Tin Mountain's Community Nature Programs a series of slide shows, hikes, lectures and field trips featuring local natural history experts and the region's spectacular natural areas. Community programs provide a diverse array of over 70 programs each year that promote an appreciation of the environment in children, adults, and families.
