L.L.Bean Installs a Solar Hot Water System to Its Flagship Store in Freeport, Continuing Its Tradition of Environmental Stewardship
Freeport, ME, June 15, 2010 — Continuing nearly 100 years of environmental conservation and preservation, L.L.Bean installed a 180-tube solar hot water collector array to its flagship store in Freeport, Maine. The project was made possible by state and federal support and incentives. Maine company ReVision Energy installed the system, which will produce domestic hot water for the flagship store's two cafes and public and employee restrooms. With over 3 million visitors annually to the flagship store, L.L.Bean expects the system will offset nearly 11,000 pounds of CO2 per year.
