L.L.Bean Kicks Off Holiday Season November 20 with Christmas Tree Lighting and Free Fun for the Whole Family
L.L.Bean Promotes "Give Warmth" This Season with Coat Drive for Maine's Seniors
Freeport, ME, November 12, 2009 – L.L.Bean welcomes the holiday season and its "Give Warmth" campaign with the annual Northern Lights Celebration and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m., at the L.L.Bean flagship store in Freeport, Maine. L.L.Bean conservation partner, Outward Bound, will provide free hot chocolate around a campfire as local artists, The Don Campbell Band, perform favorite holiday songs.
"We invite everyone to join us as we welcome the holiday season with a flip of a switch!" says Greg Elder, Vice President of Retail Stores. "The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is just the beginning of many free fun activities for the whole family to enjoy during this holiday season."
In an effort to help Maine's older citizens stay warm this winter, L.L.Bean is collecting outerwear during its second annual "Coats for Seniors" coat drive in partnership with the Maine Agencies on Aging and TRIAD. Visitors are encouraged to donate a gently used or new coat at L.L.Bean's Freeport store November 20-22. L.L.Bean will give a matching donation of $5 for each coat donated to the "Keep ME Warm" fund.
L.L.Bean's Northern Lights celebration continues throughout the holiday season with free activities and displays each weekend including live entertainment, horse and carriage rides, valet parking, campfires, book signings, new interactive kids' department and L.L.Bean's Winter Sports Expo. The celebration concludes with New Year's Eve fireworks and entertainment.
