Freeport, Maine, June 20, 2013 – L.L.Bean’s Summer Concert Series kicks off on Thursday, July 4, with a performance by singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson. Nathanson, known for his unique blend of acoustic and electric guitar, is releasing a new album this summer on Vanguard Records, and his new single, “Mission Bells,” is currently in heavy rotation.  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., in L.L.Bean’s Discovery Park, adjacent to the flagship store in Freeport, Maine. A traditional fireworks display by the Town of Freeport will follow Nathanson’s performance.

Families can spend the whole day in Freeport on the 4th, beginning at 7:30 a.m., with L.L.Bean’s 10K, followed by the Fun Run/Walk. The Town of Freeport parade will march down Main Street at 10 a.m., and the L.L.Bean campus will be visited by its popular Bootmobile from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. –  cameras encouraged!

The fun continues throughout the holiday weekend, and all summer long with concerts and activities for the whole family. Friday, July 5 is packed with kids’ entertainment throughout the day, including the Yo Yo People, Justin Roberts & The Not Ready for Naptime Players, and on July 6  at 7:30 p.m. there will be a concert by three talented Maine bands – Amy Allen, Endless Interstate and Pete Kilpatrick Band.

“Our customers and the local community look forward to the Summer Concert Series and all of our Summer in the Park events all year long," says Suzanne Deschenes, Retail Marketing Manager. "Whether someone is a music lover or looking for fun things to do in Freeport, there's something for every taste and all ages going on at our stores in Freeport all summer long."

Other concerts this summer include Diane Birch and North of Nashville and Lake Street Dive in July, and The Head and the Heart, Guster, Tristan Prettyman and Joshua Radin in August.
