Backpacker Magazine's Gear Guide Features L.L.Bean Products
The Bigelow Day Pack, winner of an Editors' Choice Award in 2006, was rated the Top Value in the magazine's review of day packs:
"This feature-loaded, amazingly low-priced pack wowed testers...it handled small overnight loads like a champ....After a year of abuse, our test models are still going strong."
The Mountain Guide Pack also earned high marks, in the Best All Around Weekend Pack category:
"Looking for a versatile 2- to 5-day pack that carries well, holds your mountaineering toys, and won't strain your budget? Here it is."
Testers also liked our new Switchback Tent (available in late February), a versatile two-in-one model that changes from a single to a double wall in minutes:
"It's hard to resist 2-for-1 deals, and Bean's Switchback is a sweet one....Our tester waited out a 3-inch soaker without a drop leaking through."
For a good night's sleep, testers liked our new Goose Down Bag 20 degree for its comfort, warmth and affordability:
"...kept cold-sleeping testers plenty warm on subfreezing nights...comfort is this bag's strong suit...few (bags) as warm and comfortable for such meager coin."
Backpacker selected our Katahdin Climashield Sleeping Bag 0 degree as its Top Synthetic Value:
"I'm a total Popsicle," wrote one of the magazine's testers, "yet this sack kept me warm in the low teens, which is a lot better than many similarly rated bags."
