L.L.Bean Donates $250,000 to Maine's Keep ME Warm Program and Awards Cash Gift to Employees
L.L.Bean's board of directors and the office of the president thank employees for their outstanding efforts this holiday season with a cash gift totaling approximately $1 million. The gift will be given to all eligible employees.
“Despite the many challenges facing us this holiday season, employees in our operational areas and throughout the company responded with seemingly tireless spirit and an unwavering commitment to serve our customers,” says Chris McCormick, President and CEO. “It wasn't easy, but once again, employees showed their Bean spirit: When something has to get done, and done right, you find a way. The office of the president and board are happy to provide this special cash thank-you.”
Many people in the Northeast are finding it tougher to heat their homes this winter. “Fuel costs are at an all-time high,” says Chris. “We hope this cash gift will ease the burden a bit.”
L.L.Bean and its board of directors will also make a $250,000 donation to the State of Maine's Keep ME Warm fuel assistance program. High fuel costs have become a looming crisis in Maine this winter. Maine Governor John Baldacci addressed the need for fuel assistance in his annual State of the State speech on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
