In celebration of our 100th anniversary, L.L.Bean will donate up to $1 million to the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America's national parks, to help kids experience outdoor adventure and learn about our natural environment. You can help by simply sharing your love of the outdoors.
For every moment you share – online, on Facebook or Twitter or in person at one of our upcoming events – we'll give a dollar to the National Park Foundation*. And sharing is easy. Send us a picture of your favorite outdoor place, tell us about a hiking trail or a new outdoor activity you've tried, or visit one of our stores to check out new gear. Together, we'll bring young people into our parks and inspire a new generation to share our passion for the outdoors.
Here are just a few of the ways the National Park Foundation grants helped youngsters in 2011:
- Partnered with Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston to help preteens enjoy and learn about the coastal setting at Cape Cod National Seashore.
- Helped Wisconsin at-risk teens experience and capture the beauty of five national parks as they created a traveling photo exhibit and documentary.
- Allowed high school girls from Philadelphia to paddle and camp on the Delaware River as part of a multi-disciplinary empowerment program.
In partnership with America's National Parks, the National Park Foundation enriches America's national parks and programs through private support, safeguarding our heritage and inspiring generations to share our enthusiam for our national parks. L.L.Bean continues its ongoing support of the National Park Foundation and innovative programs such as the propane-powered Island Explorer bus system in Acadia National Park.
