Browser Software/Settings

We recommend you use Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3x or Safari 3x. If you have a previous version of one of these browsers, you can download a free copy of the latest version from Microsoft, Firefox or Apple.

Monitor Settings

If you have to scroll to get a full view of our pages, try setting your monitor to a resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher. To change monitor settings:

  • Windows users: Go to Start menu: Control Panel: Display: Settings or right click on your Desktop, select Properties: Settings.
  • Mac users: Go to Apple menu: System Preferences: Displays, select resolution.

Cookies

Your browser has to be set to accept cookies before you can place an order at llbean.com. Most browsers accept cookies by default, but if you're having trouble ordering, you may need to change settings to enable cookies.

To enable cookies:

PC Users

  • Internet Explorer 5.5 and higher: Go to Tools: Internet Options: Security. Select Internet, then Custom Level. You may need to scroll to see the options for enabling cookies.
  • Firefox: Tools - Options - Privacy - expand Cookies - check Allow sites to set cookies - select "Until they expire" from dropdown.

Mac Users

  • OSX, Safari: On the top toolbar, select Preferences: Security.
  • Firefox: Go to Firefox Menu: Preferences: Select Privacy Tab: Expand Cookies: Click "Allow sites to set cookies", "Keep cookies until they expire".

Flash

Flash 6.0 or higher is used in some areas of our site, and in a few cases (such as custom products) is required for ordering. Flash is a free download from the Macromedia web site at www.macromedia.com.

How to Place an Order at llbean.com

Finding the Items You Want

Use the navigation menus at the top of any page to start shopping any of our online departments. You can also search our site by entering a keyword into the search box at the top left of any page. Detailed product information is just a click or two away.

Ordering Catalog Items

With Catalog Quickshop, it's easy to find and order an item from one of our print catalogs. Just type the item number into the search box at the top left of any page.

Adding Items to Your Shopping Bag

Once you've found an item you'd like to order, simply select all the required options (such as size and color) and click "Add to Bag."

Changing the Shipping Recipient for an Item

Click the Shopping Bag icon at the upper right corner of any page to visit your Shopping Bag. Choose "Add New Recipient" from the dropdown menu next to the item, and enter a nickname (like "Dad" or "Suzie at Work"). We'll ask you for shipping information during checkout.

If you have an llbean.com account and are logged in, you can also choose from a list of previously saved recipients.

Saving an Item for Later Purchase

If you have an item in your Shopping Bag you'd like to purchase during another visit, select the "Save for Later" option that appears below the item. To access this helpful feature, we invite you to Create an Account.

Checking Out and Completing Your Order

From your Shopping Bag, click the "Check Out" button.

If you have an llbean.com account, log in now and we'll automatically fill in available shipping and billing information to save time during checkout.

If you don't have an llbean.com account, you can check out as a guest. Once you have completed your order, we'll ask you if you'd like to create an account to use next time you visit.

Proceed through the checkout screens, filling out the required information on each page. The progress indicator at the top of the screen will let you know when you've completed the Shipping Information and Payment Information sections (get help with Payment Options).

On the Review and Submit Order page, you'll have one more chance to look over your order. Click "Submit Order" to place the order. The last screen will be a Thank You page, which you can print out for your records.

We'll send you an order confirmation via email, to be followed by a shipping notification with tracking information. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments about your order.

We designed our site's ordering system to protect the security of your personal information, including your credit card number. Since ordinary email is not secure in the same way, we cannot accept orders sent via email. For your security, please do not include your credit card information in any email you send us.

Alterations

We will alter the inseams on your unfinished pants free of charge. Simply select the desired length from the list on the product page. Some other alterations (on finished garments) can be made for a small fee, and are available by phone only. Please contact us for more information on specific alteration requests.

Payment Options

Payment Types Accepted at llbean.com

We accept the following methods of payment online:

  • Credit cards: We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Optima, Discover/NOVUS, JCB and the EuroCard VISA/MasterCard. We also accept gift cards with the Visa, MasterCard or American Express logo
  • L.L.Bean Gift Cards: We accept both Gift Cards and Email Gift Cards.
  • L.L.Bean Visa Coupon Dollars: (a benefit of the L.L.Bean Visa Card, currently available only in the US).

Payment Types Not Accepted Online

  • L.L.Bean Gift Certificates: We are unable to accept gift certificates online. To redeem a gift certificate, please place your order by phone
  • Third-party online payment services: We do not accept payment via services such as PayPal or Google Checkout
  • Electronic checks: We cannot accept electronic checks or "e-checks" for L.L.Bean orders.

Credit Card Orders

Your card is usually charged when you place your order, as long as the items are in stock. If your order contains backordered items, the backordered portion will not be charged to your account until the item(s) becomes available. There are some exceptions with orders that contain items requiring freight delivery or that are sent directly from our vendors.

Redeeming Promotions, Gift Cards or L.L.Bean Visa Coupons

As you complete your order, you'll be able to enter this information as part of selecting your payment options. Simply enter the information in the appropriate section of the "Payment Information" page.

Please note, we allow only one promotional offer per order. Also, a promotional code you enter manually at checkout will override any promotion associated with an online advertisement.

For your convenience, you may enter more than one Gift Card or L.L.Bean Visa Coupon per order. L.L.Bean Visa Coupon Dollars, a benefit of the L.L.Bean Visa Card, may be redeemed along with a promotional offer. You may redeem as many coupons as you like, up to but not exceeding the total value of your order.

Special Pricing

If you order two items at a special price of "2 for $35," for example, you can split the order so it ships to more than one address.

Minimum Order Values for Promotions

Gift Cards and applicable taxes, duties, shipping and handling do not apply toward the minimum order value associated with promotional coupons.

Coupon Savings

Any coupon savings will appear on the "Review and Submit Order" page. For coupons that require a minimum order value, your savings will appear only after you meet the minimum dollar amount.

Gift Services

Gift Boxing

Gift boxing is available for $6.00 per box for most items shipping to a US address. (Additional service times may apply for gift boxing.) We're sorry, due to customs regulations, gift boxing is unavailable for items shipping outside the US.

If at least one item in your order can be gift boxed, a "Gift Boxing" link will display next to the item(s) during checkout, on the Shipping Information page. Click the Gift Boxing link to choose a box pattern and enter a personal message. Note that gift box messages will not display accent marks and non-Roman characters.

Please note: If you are checking out as a guest or shipping to a new recipient, the link will appear after you have finished entering the shipping address(es). If the gift box option does not appear, gift boxing is not available for any of the items in your order.

Gift Message

You'll see the "Free Gift Message" link on the Shipping Information page as you check out. You may include one Gift Message per recipient. The Gift Message is presented separately from the cards included as part of our Gift Box service. Note that Gift Messages will not display accent marks and non-Roman characters.
