Shipping and Handling Charges and Delivery Times


The charts linked below provide estimated charges and delivery times based on destination and total order value. The actual shipping and handling charges and estimated date when your order will arrive will be provided during checkout.


Monogramming, engraving or alterations might add additional processing time. Some items, such as furniture, might take longer for delivery and incur additional shipping and handling charges (these are listed on individual product pages and will be provided during checkout).

Ship to Store

Most in-stock items can be shipped free to the L.L.Bean store near you, where you can pick them up at your convenience – usually in about seven days.

Backordered items, as well as some items that require special handling (such as furniture, boats, bikes and gift cards), cannot be shipped to a store. We are unable to ship items to L.L.Bean Outlets.

To ship your items to an L.L.Bean store:

  1. In your Shopping Bag, click "Ship to Store" next to your first item and choose a store location from the list (if this option does not appear next to an item, it is not eligible for in-store pickup). Please note: If your preferred store is shown in gray text and cannot be selected, Ship to Store is temporarily unavailable at that location.
  2. Continue with additional items, then check out as usual. Estimated delivery time, including any additional time for services such as monogramming or gift boxing, will be shown during checkout.

    Note: We recommend printing out the "Thank You" page to bring with you when you pick up your order.
  3. When your order is ready for pickup, a representative will call you at the daytime phone number you provided during checkout. You can pick up your order any time during regular store hours, starting at 4:30 p.m. the day you receive the call.

    Orders will be held at the store for seven days. After this time, we will contact you about issuing a credit and returning the item(s) to our warehouse.
  4. When you arrive to pick up your order, bring a printout of your "Thank You" page or order confirmation email to any register. You will need to bring a photo ID that matches the name on credit card you used to make your purchase. For your security, orders will be released only to the purchaser with valid ID.

Freight Delivery and Returns

Freight Delivery

For items that ship by freight, you'll see an estimate of the delivery time on the product page, as well as a pop-up window with complete information about freight delivery.

When the item is ready for delivery, the freight company will call you to schedule a delivery time. Please be sure to provide a daytime phone number when you enter the shipping address, so the freight company can contact you when the order has arrived. You should obtain the freight company's phone number in case you need to change the delivery time. For most freight items, delivery is "to the curb." The driver is not responsible for carrying the package into your home. Please arrange for help to move it if needed, and please be sure someone is available to sign for the delivery at the scheduled time.

We ask that you always inspect your package for damage before signing for the delivery. If the package is damaged but the merchandise looks unaffected, note the damage on all delivery receipts before signing. If the package is damaged to an extent the merchandise may be damaged, please refuse delivery and call our Customer Service department at 800-341-4341.

Freight Returns

If you discover a problem after you've accepted delivery, please call our Customer Service department at 800-341-4341. We may be able to resolve the problem without requiring you to return the item. You should retain all packing material until you're completely satisfied with the condition and performance of your purchase. Doing so will make it easier to return the item if necessary. If you wish to return or exchange such an item, please call Customer Service at 800-341-4341. We will arrange the return shipment with a freight company.

Backorders

For most orders, you can find the estimated ship date for your backordered item when you Track Your Order.

Backorders Shipping to US

Backordered items are shipped via the same service as the initial order (refer to the Shipping and Handling charts linked at the top of this page for estimated delivery times). In most cases, you can expect delivery 2-5 business days after the item becomes available. For Promotional Free Shipping Orders, you can expect delivery 7-10 business days after the item becomes available. Delivery might take longer for some items.

Backorders Shipping to Canada

Backordered items are shipped via Canada Regular Shipping and Handling. In most cases, you can expect delivery 5-11 business days after the item becomes available. If your order includes both in-stock and backordered items, the backordered portion will be shipped at no additional charge. Delivery might take longer for some items.

Outside the US and Canada

Backordered items shipping outside the US and Canada are shipped via International Airmail. In most cases, you can expect delivery 2-3 weeks after the item becomes available. If your order includes both in-stock and backordered items, the backordered portion will be shipped at no additional charge. Delivery might take longer for some items.
